A bathroom that appeals to the senses
The bathroom has been rid of its wet-room image intended exclusively for personal hygiene for quite some time now. Even in the smallest bathrooms, people are now trying to create an atmosphere that reflects their own personality.
It’s all about achieving a more natural atmosphere in the bathroom to really appeal to the senses. This approach calls for a combination of conventional bathroom equipment such as a WC, washbasin and shower, along with a wide variety of materials on the ceilings, walls and floors, and a selection of accessories.
The right thing for every need
Christoph Behling, Head Design Strategy at Geberit, also confirms this view. “We don't impose any rules on customers. We make sure that you can find something for every taste, every place and every budget quickly and easily. Design diversity is therefore very important in the portfolio of our bathroom series.“
By the way: The design of the equipment plays a rather subordinate role. It doesn't matter whether clear, linear ceramics or softer, round shapes are chosen. The big difference in the look is made by the materials, structures and colours used in the interior design, and the accessories used also provide the final icing on the cake in the look of the bathroom.
Material mix is the order of the day
“In my opinion, the trend right now is more towards matt materials. That is, material that is less reflective and thus less cool. For example, brushed metals on fittings and flush plates. Warm, subdued tones are in vogue. Bathrooms like twenty years ago with shiny white tiles and sparkling fittings are rather out,“ explains Christoph Behling.
“There is also a trend towards transparent and translucent, i.e. translucent materials, as well as natural materials such as real wood and stone. Another current keyword in the bathroom is “biophilia“. If you have space, design the room with real plants. In small bathrooms, floral wallpaper also fulfils the desire to bring nature into the bathroom,“ says designer Tilla Goldberg.
